Since when is an 8 a "big girl size?" The average U.S. woman is a 14 now.

And I was always under the assumption size 8 was consider plus sized

Check the rise on Land's End trousers and jeans.  They now have three different ones, and the Fit 2 and Fit 3 are shorter non-mom-jeans rises.  I have a Fit 3 pair of Bermuda shorts and love the fit.  With wider hips and a more narrow waist, the lower rise looks reasonably decent.  Plus on jeans and most trousers, LE offers free hemming.

I do kinda like the RL ones, Su!!  But I still cannot get the corduroy SWISH out of my head.

And girlygirl, a size 8 is NOT a plus size!  A size 8-10 for many manufacturers is a medium, whether the item is a top or bottom.

Plus sizes can start around a ladies 14 and go up from there; ex: 14W is considered a women's or plus size.

gg- 8 is definitely not plus size- some even consider it to be quite trim.  do not let all of the distorted hollywood sizes get you mixed up on this.  an 8 is not a big size, trust.
